I'm a PHP programmer that's working on a project. It's a web site that I plan to run myself. I'm going to delegate certain responsibilities to outsourcers to save time. If you do a good job on this, they'll be more work almost immediately. I need a set of functions to use for basic form validation. Here's a few basic points: 1.) This script will NOT be done in an object orientated fashion. I prefer OOP myself, but it will not be used in this project for reasons that I don't want to go into here. Procedural code only. 2.) You will be expected to comment well and often. If you think you're over commenting, you're not doing it enough. Do it more. 3.) Write clean code that is not repetitive. If I can find a block of code in two places, that's a problem. 4.) This form validation script must be written in such a way that it is easily "plugged into" an existing code base. It will all be contained in one file. Think of it as a module. 5.) All your code must work in *nix and Windows. I use Linux exclusively, but I often work with partners who use Windows. You don't have to be too concerned with this one, just don't use any function that you KNOW doesn't work in Windows. More about the script you'll write: The following functions will NOT be included in the script (they are done in the bootstrap of the CMS on every page load to every GET/POST variable, I do this because sometimes a programmer will forget to sanitize a GET/POST variable and this will save them from themselves) - again this is a list of things that DO NOT have to be checked 1.) trim() 2.) strip_tags() 3.) mysql_real_escape_string() 4.) htmlenities() Please check the attached file to see some good examples of the types of information this script will need to process. You may process them in whatever way you wish as long as you keep it all in one file and it's easy to plug into an existing script/application. I have a language file full of errors that you should make use of. I copied it's contents into the attached file. I'm sure I've left stuff out. Contact me with any questions. | ||||||||||||
